I Can't Quit Now

Tyler was tired of losing. This was his sixth track meet for the year and he kept placing 4th and 5th. This was an incredible loss to Tyler because he spent hours training and conditioning just so that he could win 1st place. Tyler, in frustration and anger, informed his coach that he was going to take the rest of the season off. His coach simply looked at him and said, "true winners never give up until the race is won." These words jabbed Tyler right in the heart. In that moment he realized that he could only truly lose if lost the battle with his mind, as winning was simply his perspective.

Too often we want to give up and throw in the towel when things don't pan out the way we envisioned or desired. In fact we may feel defeated or like a loser because we keep coming up short. It is in these times where we must not let frustration or anger get the best of us as it is often our perception that needs redirecting.

2 Timothy 2:3 tells us to suffer hardships as good soldiers. In other words focus on the task at hand: winning. Don't get caught up with what anyone else is doing or the battle will be lost. No soldier who goes to war can fight if he's focused on what his comrades are doing as he'll miss the enemy approaching him, which may cost him his life. Life is no different. If we get stuck at looking at why we didn't place first or why we don't have this or that then we've already lost the battle as the enemy had successfully captured our minds.

True soldiers stay in task and know that hardships are apart of war, but can see victory in their eyes. Today we cannot quit on the plan of God, but we must ensure every test and trial as a good soldier as we will be victorious in the end. When we develop this mindset we're already winning!
