Are You Seeing Victory?

Harry had scored the highest on his SAT exam, but inside he was riddled with guilt after cheating his way to the top. Miranda was finally married after carrying on an affair with her friend's husband for a whole year. Nadine finally got the promotion after taking bribes and sleeping with her bosses to rise on the corporate ladder. Jermaine managed to avoid abusing drugs and alcohol after witnessing it throughout his childhood, but he hated every woman that remotely touched his heart because of un-forgiveness he had pinned up deep inside towards his mother.

On the outside looking in, it would appear that each of these individuals were living a victorious life. Harry could attend any college he wanted with scholarship; Miranda was married to the man of her dreams; Nadine had the ideal job; and Jermaine wasn't a statistic. Anyone who didn't know their personal anguish would think they had arrived and received God's blessings, but living out victory everyday doesn't always mean attaining some natural possession. In fact where is the victory if you have all the riches but have lost your soul in the process?

Matthew 16:26 asks this pertinent question of all of us, causing us to take a close look of who we really are inwardly. Having the money, the status, the relationship, and even a morally good composition means nothing if we don't have Jesus Christ. Sometimes victory is simply being able to sleep at night, to look at ourselves in the mirror, to forgive someone who hurt us, to smile in the face of adversity, to trust when everyone seems to have walked away, and to love even our own enemies. Victory doesn't always glitter outwardly for men to applaud our accomplishments, but often victory beams from the inside so that men see the light of Christ glowing within, glorifying God not their possessions or personal feats.

Today determine to live out your life in victory by receiving all that God has for you in His time and according to His way. Don't get caught up with the fanfare of this world and seek to gain what you want by any means necessary. Know that you are so much more valuable and God has a much greater plan than you could ever think of or devise. Simply ask yourself: am I truly seeing victory God's way? If the answer is no, don't cheat yourself out of true victory. Redeem it today by the power of God!
