Stay Delivered

We all have battles to face in life. Some battles take longer for us to fight than others, but once the battle is over (win or lose) it's over.

Many of us recall the story of the Israelites, the Egyptian army and the Red Sea. Indeed that was a battle to fight and a victorious one for the people of God. See the Egyptians wanted to continue to enslave the people and the people of God wanted to be free. So it took the power of God to set them free, as He lead them by a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day to the Red Sea. The Red Sea may have seemed like another obstacle but God parted that sea and they crossed over to the promised land unscathed. The Egyptian Army, however, drowned in their pursuit of God's people.

Much like the Israelites, when God fights a battle for us, He's always victorious and we don't have to fight that battle again. No where in the Bible do we ever see the Israelites fighting the Egyptians again (sure they had other battles but not with the Egyptians): they were completely delivered. I'm sure if they had went back as they so often desired to, they would've found themselves enslaved again, hoping to be set free, yet again! But why go back to what has been defeated?

So many of us overcome addictions,  bad habits, poor decision making, and the like... and we somehow manage to go back to the things God has brought us out of.. why?  Deliverance is meant to be permanent not temporary as we just learned with the Israelites and the Red Sea.  Galatians 5:1 reminds us to remain in the freedom that Christ has given us, not to be entrapped by sin again.  Today let us focus on remaining delivered by the power of God!  He will always fight for us and afterwards His power is able to sustain us.
