Let His Light Shine

Stanley had just received his lines in the new play. He didn't get the star role that he was aiming for, but for the supporting role. During rehearsal he grew frustrated because the star role was actually given to someone who had just started acting. Stanley admitted that his acting was great, but he was clueless as to stage directions and the like. As a result Stanley took this opportunity to "upstage" Will, the new actor. He wanted the director and producer to see that he was the better choice as he outshone his  counterpart. What he didn't realize was that his arrogance was the only thing that was made clear that day.

In life we will surely face moments when someone may feel as if they should be the ones shining while our light is dimmed. Perhaps that person can be you, thinking why does he/she outshine me? The problem with this thinking is that you are shining as one person can't do it all. Stanley couldn't see that his role was just as critical as Will's because all he could focus on was that he wasn't the leading role. Too often our pride and vanity supersede the fact that God uses whom He chooses in the hour He chooses and nothing we do can stop or thwart the plan of God.

Perhaps our role in life will be supporting and not the lead, the visionary, the center attraction or the like, but what does it matter if we are allowing the light of God's love to shine through us? Positions will come and go, stars will rise and fall, but the only super star that will remain shining ever so brightly is Jesus Christ! So why not choose to let anger, just, envy, arrogance, and pride go so that He can shine through us today?!

Today let us choose to let His Light so shine so that men would see your good works that He placed within you and glorify Him in heaven a stated in Matthew 5:16.
