Step Out on Faith

Shawn was a dreamer. His visions often exceeded his physical means, but he still believed that they could be made possible. Shawn's one problem, however, was that he never followed through with the plan of action to realize his vision. Why? Because he was afraid that he would fail.

Fear can be crippling. Many of us will fail to move forward in life because of a mental handicap called fear. Fear will hold us back from reaching goals, seeing dreams come to past, and trusting God. Fear inhibits the free moving power of God in our lives because it cancels faith.

When Jesus called Peter to walk on water, he began to walk on what was impossible to man, but the minute he took his eyes off of Jesus, his possibility became an impossibility.

Like Peter and Shawn, we to fall short of God's promises over our lives because we allow fear to stop us from stepping out from the safe shoreline into the deep ocean of uncertainty. Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith it is impossible to please Him and that we must come to Him believing as He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. In other words we must constantly pursue God, trusting Him to carry us along the way.

Today let us push fear aside and reach out to the arms of a savior who is stretched out waiting to take us across the waves of uncertainty to a sure destiny. All we need to do is step out and trust Him!
