Why Talk When I Can Pray

Pauline was facing some distressing times so she picked up her phone and dialed her best friend's number. Unfortunately her friend barely offered her any advice and she found herself in no better position than when she started. As a result she sunk deeper into her dark hole, wondering who she could call.

Much like Pauline we often turn to our friends, family, and loved ones in times of need when often times God simply wants us to turn to Him. Many times God is trying to get our attention and asking for us to spend time with Him in prayer. Why?

Because when we are communicating with God through prayer, we will have the direction and guidance we need to make it through. Jesus was always talking to the Father as He said, He does nothing by Himself in John 5:19 because He and the Father are one. Even Jesus spent time alone with God to gain strength, gather wisdom, and glean knowledge. Why would we be any different?

Too many times we try to find a quick fix in someone or something else other than God. We too must close our mouths with murmurs and complaints and find solace in spending time with the One who knows ALL and sees ALL. God wants to be the source of our existence especially in times of despair. So why not let Him in?

Today try releasing your frustrations and aggravation to God in prayer instead of talking about it with others as in the end, He's the only one who can save you anyways. Trust Him to work it out: PRAY!
