Are You Guided By Truth?

Pam had avoided this dilemma for as long as she could. She had been battling telling her friend the truth about her shortcomings. She had wrestled with this decision for a long time because she didn't want to offend her and she didn't want to seem judgmental; but her friend was spiraling out of control. She had started using drugs as a way to escape her problems, and while at first it seemed like nothing, Pam noticed how the drugs slowly began to take complete control of her entire life. She couldn't keep quiet any longer.

Like Pam, we all will face a moment where we are forced to tell the truth about a situation or to take a stance against some act or deed, but will we? Will we be strong enough to stand up and set the captive free by the liberating truth of God's word? More importantly there will come a time where we are forced to "keep it real" with ourselves and this moment of truth will most likely be the most difficult as it is usually easier to see where others have gone wrong before recognizing our own flaws. But will we be bold enough to confront ourselves with the truth?

Proverbs 11:3 says, "The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them (ESV)." Truth will always guide us in the right direction, while crookedness, lies, and deceit will ultimately destroy us. But what truth do we follow? Who's truth are we to adhere to? John 8:32 says know the truth and the truth will set us free. That truth is the word of God. Following God's word may seem challenging, but it is far easier and much more rewarding than a life that will ultimately lead to disaster and destruction.

Today make sure you are guided solely by God's truth so that you can have a life filled with love, joy, and peace, as the truth will definitely set you free! By choosing truth, you choose to live healthy and free!
