Light it Up!

Rayna struggled with knowing her purpose. She knew there were things that she was gifted at, but still she would often remain puzzled about what she should really pursue in life.

Many of us have faced this tough grueling question as it speaks to our life call. We typically think should I be a lawyer, doctor, businessman, or the like? Was I created to sing, dance, or act? Am I to be a wife, husband, mother, or father? The list of questions go on and parade around in our head baffling us and sometimes depressing us.

However, there is one purpose to which God called us all and that's to be a light by spreading the word about the Light. In that sense we are very much like John the Baptist who in the Book of John 1:6-7 was sent by God to declare the coming of our savior, Jesus Christ. The scripture records that through John's testimony and his light, others would come to know and believe in the Light. No we're not the forerunner who was sent to proclaim the news of the coming Messiah, but we are to go before the world and let them know that He's coming back again for a church without spot or wrinkle by the testimony we not only speak but live.

Living a life that reflects everything Jesus came to show: love, grace, mercy, truth, loyalty, sacrifice, provision and so much more is our purpose. We are to let our lights shine so bright that others would want to know who and what makes us so radiant despite anything and everything we may face in this trying world.

Today let's not get caught up with focusing on whether we are meant to be rich or poor, married or single, with child or without, etc., but rather let us embrace the total purpose of our existence, which is to spread the Good News and be that light in a very dark place!' Shine bright today for His glory.
